Cadre Leadership Program
The purpose of the Cadre Program is to train, educate, and mentor Winter Park Cadets in advanced leadership concepts and related skill sets in order to prepare them to lead and assist other Cadets within the Regiment. The Cadre program is one-hundred percent voluntary and is physically and mentally demanding but extremely rewarding.
Orienteering is a competitive sport that combines land navigation (using a map and compass), terrain association, and cross country running. Participants use a specially prepared topographical orienteering map to find control points in a variety of terrain.
Winter Park has a history of fielding highly successful orienteering teams, with approximately 20-30 Cadets participating annually.
Orienteering practice is every Tuesday from 1430 to 1600 (2:30pm until 4pm) during the fall.
Air Rifle Marksmanship Team
Air Rifle Marksmanship is a competitive team sport that is centered around Olympic-style precision marksmanship, sponsored by the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP). Team members learn rifle safety, and three position (prone, kneeling, and offhand) shooting.
Precision air rifle is a collegiate sport and participation can result in scholarship opportunities to several colleges nationwide.
Air rifle practice is every Wednesday after school.
The Academic Team is a competitive team that challenges Cadets' knowledge of the NJROTC curriculum against other NJROTC programs at the local and national level.
Advanced Physical Training
Advanced Physical Training is for Cadets that are looking to improve their physical fitness and overall health. This training focuses on bodyweight dynamic and functional fitness. Cadets are also taught the fundamentals of leading physical training sessions and under the supervision of the instructor staff, have the opportunity to develop and execute workouts for other Cadets.
Advanced PT is every Monday after school from 1430 until 1600 (2:30pm until 4pm).
Winter Park NJROTC provides hundreds of hours of school support and community service annually. These hours not only serve Winter Park High School and our local community, they also make our Cadets more competitive for college admissions, professional opportunities, and scholarships, such as the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program.
