    George W. Gorden was born in Dunedin, FL. and raised in New Port Richey FL, on 1 June 1984. He enlisted in August 2003, and underwent recruit training at 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, Foxtrot Company, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Paris Island, S.C. Upon completion of recruit training, Private Gorden reported to Ft. Benning GA. for Airborne school, upon graduation Private Gorden reported to Ft. Lee VA. for Air Delivery Specialist Parachute Rigger course.

 

    Private First Class Gorden reported to 2D Force Service Support Group (FSSG), Transportation Support Battalion, Beach and Terminal Operations Company, Air Delivery Platoon.  While there Lance Corporal Gorden held various billets to range from Light Pack Section Head to Maintenance NCO. 

                                                                                                                                          

   In August 2005, Lance Corporal Gorden reported to Combat Logistics Battalion 2 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 04-06 in the Al Anbar Province. 

 

    Upon return Lance Corporal Gorden returned to his parent command 2D Marine Logistics Group, Combat Logistics Regiment 27, Landing Support Company, Air Delivery Platoon. While with CLR-27 Lance Corporal Gorden was in charge of the Heavy Drop and the Light Pack Section.

 

    In August 2008, Corporal Gorden reported to Combat Logistics Battalion 2 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 07-09 in the Al Anbar Province.

 

    Upon return in March 2009 Sergeant Gorden reported back to Combat Logistics Regiment 27 and filled the role as Platoon Sergeant.

 

    In October 2009, Sergeant Gorden reported to 3D Marine Logistics Group, Combat Logistics Regiment 37, Landing Support Company, Air Delivery Platoon in Okinawa, Japan.  While there Sergeant Gorden completed five bi-lateral operations, and helped prepare 9th Engineer Support Battalion for their pre-deployment training in 29 Palms California.  During his tour, he served the roles of Platoon Sergeant, Operations Chief and Air Delivery Detachment SNCOIC. 

 

    In October 2012, Sergeant Gorden reported to 2D Marine Logistics Group, Combat Logistics Regiment 27, Transportation Support Battalion, Landing Support Company, Air Delivery Platoon. While there Sergeant Gorden filled the Roles as Air Delivery Chief, Assistant Operations Chief, and Platoon Sergeant simultaneously.

 

    In February 2014, Staff Sergeant Gorden reported to 2d Reconnaissance Battalion, 2d Marine Division, H&S Company to serve as the Platoon Sergeant, and Operations/Training Chief.

 

    In January 2016, Staff Sergeant Gorden reported to Marine Corps Embassy Security Group (MCESG), where he completed Detachment Commanders Course for the Marine Security Guard program. Upon completion of the course, SSgt Gorden reported to MCESG Region 6, as the Detachment Commander for Detachment Kampala, Africa. 

 

    In May 2016, Staff Sergeant Gorden reported to 1st Marine Logistics Group, 1st Transportation Support Battalion, Landing Support Company, Air Delivery Platoon where he served as the Platoon Sergeant, Air Delivery chief, and Operations Chief. 

 

    In December 2017, Gunnery Sergeant Gorden reported to 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, H&S Company to serve as the Paraloft Chief.

 

    In August 2019, Gunnery Sergeant Gorden reported to 2D Marine Logistics Group, G-3 Future Operations as the Airborne and Air Delivery Planner.

 

    In January 2020, Gunnery Sergeant Gorden reported to 2D Marine Logistics Group, Combat Logistics Regiment 2, Transportation Support Battalion, Landing Support Company, Air Delivery Platoon to serve as an Air Delivery Chief.

 

    In July 2022, Gunnery Sergeant Gorden reported 1st Landing Support Battalion as the Air Delivery Chief. In January 2023, Master Sergeant Gorden was promoted to his current rank, where he then served as the Parachute Safety Officer and Paraloft Chief. In October 2023, 1st Landing Support was disbanded and re-designated as 1st Distribution Support Battalion.

   Master Sergeant Gorden retired on 31 August 2025, after serving 22 years. Upon retirement, he started his current role as a Naval Science Instructor for Core & Leadership at Winter Park High School.

 

    His personal awards include a Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal(x3), and Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal(x3).

 

    Master Sergeant Gorden is married to the former Ms. Jessica Giltner from Twenty-Nine Palms, Ca. He has two daughters and one son, Leah, Paige, and Chase.
